It is so common for us to use our phone or car dashboard system to navigate to our desired destinations. But even those tools can’t provide directions unless we enter that destination. Likewise, you are not going to have the business you want unless you have a clear vision of that future business (your destination).

In fact, without a vision, the decisions you make, goals you set, and even what you expect employees to be accomplishing may very well be moving you further from your dreams.

What is exactly the business you want to have or wish you had? In two-three years, then:

  • how big is your business (revenue/profit/number of employees)?
  • what does the culture feel like?
  • what role are you in – and what are you no longer doing?
  • what are you getting out of the business?
  • what balance do you have in work/personal life?

It is so important to get a clear picture of your destination. Get clear on what business you want to enjoy owning and/or leading. Align every decision, goal, and action (your directions/route) to get there . . . and keep doing that.
