One of our newest CEO peer group members told us that he joined our group because “he just ran out of people to talk to.” Is that you? I mean, as a business owner, you may find yourself needing to talk over a big decision, an opportunity, or some pressing issue, but discover there is a shortage (or no one) you can actual speak with that can fully appreciate your position.

Every business owner needs one or more people to talk to that:

  • Understands how you feel as a business owner and the unique challenges you face.
  • Understands what it’s like to take the risk of ownership.
  • Can provide unbiased (not family, not paid employee, not paid consultant) feedback.
  • Is willing to call you out – to tell you the truth.
  • Cares about your personal and professional success.

Find that person or a group of people that can be that resource for you (or both a person and a group of people) and you will find real value both in having an outlet for what’s on your mind and in having input from others that get what you are going through. Find an executive coach, an informal group through networking, or a formal peer group (professionally facilitated). If you find you have run out of people to talk to, give me a call. I’ve been there myself.
